The Australian Retailers Association and the National Retail Association have now lodged with the Fair Work Commission a joint application for their proposed amalgamation to be submitted to members for approval in a secret ballot conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission. The Western Australia Government is seeking to introduce a Bill to extend trading hours for general retail shops in the metropolitan area.

If passed, the changes to the Bill will enable retailers to to trade between 7am to 9pm on weekdays (currently 8am to 9pm) and between 7am to 6pm on Saturdays (currently 8am to 5pm)
