Online Session

Friday 28th October 2022
11:00am - 12:00pm

Info sessions for retailers, hospitality, suppliers & community organisations impacted by the Aotearoa New Zealand Plastics Phase-Out.

About this event

This session is open to all businesses, community organisations and other impacted stakeholders to ask questions about the ban.

It is now illegal in New Zealand to provide, sell or manufacture certain hard to recycle and single-use plastic products:

  • Plastic cotton buds
  • Plastic drink stirrers
  • Oxo- and photo-degradable plastic products
  • Certain PVC food trays and containers
  • Polystyrene takeaway packaging
  • Expanded polystyrene food and beverage packaging

The National Retail Association has been engaged by the NZ Government to assist businesses to understand, manage and comply with the Plastics Ban. The NRA team are specialists in plastics bans across Australia and New Zealand, and the implications of these bans for businesses.

We are hosting online ‘pop-in’ sessions, designed for retailers, hospitality, suppliers or community organisations directly impacted by the NZ ban to ‘pop in’, ask us questions and clarify their obligations.

Session times:

  • Friday 28 October 11am-12pm (NZDT)
  • Friday 4 November 11am-12pm (NZDT)

Please review the website and resources first as your questions may be answered here.

You are welcome to come along to any session to ask your questions, but you do not need to attend every session as content will be repeated and any critical news or updates will be relayed via the link below, not these sessions. If time, we can also answer questions about bans in other states.

Sessions are maximum 1 hour and held via Zoom. All resources and sessions are free.

Please ensure each member of your team registers here so we can plan for numbers.
