The famous green and gold Australian Made kangaroo logo instils confidence in shoppers who want to support Australian businesses and manufacturing. Products that carry the Australian Made logo are trusted and can often sell at a higher price point as customers believe that are getting quality products, produced with local materials while keeping jobs in Australia.

It’s a certification trade mark, registered with the Federal Government, and with a strict set of rules (Code of Practice) governing how it can be used.

Australian Made is defined as:
• The product has been manufactured here (not just packaged or assembled); and
• 50% or more of the cost of making it can be attributed to Australian materials and/or production processes.

Businesses are not allowed to make statements that are incorrect or likely to create a false impression.

This rule applies to their advertising, their product packaging, and any information provided to you by their staff or online shopping services. It also applies to any statements made by businesses in the media or online, such as testimonials on their websites or social media pages.

A sheepskin footwear seller has paid a penalty of $10,800 for alleged false or misleading Australian Made representation on its website about the country of origin of its ‘UGG® Aries Sheepskin Australia’.
